Are you smoking crack? ? Why in the world would I drive that far to fish largeheads in the best sheep fishery in the world? That is alomst as ludicrous as targeting smallies. You must have accidentally hit yourself in the head with that buzzbait a few times. I have on occasion gone after largies when I either couldn't fill a limit or just plain wasn't good enough to catch the smallies (or was a big chicken and waiting for the storm to pass before heading out into the lake). I would prefer to fish Erie, but if the ProBoy wants to go to St Clair, that's cool, too. If we pretend you and him are both CAST members, we can all three go. (OOPS, sorry Garza, didn't mean to offend you).

st clair??? NO! detroit river/erie? YES! i know of a few key river spots. whether or not they will be on is yet to be determined. plus, i can show you a hit or miss technique on erie. i make no promises, but if all else fails you can always run to the south shore of clair ( which is pretty hot lately ). i say we meet up at elizabeth park and target the river fish. its not gonna be easy, but nothing worth doing ever is. i predict 16 lbs given that we only have 2.5 hours. ;D PoorBoy himself

I have a Metropark sticker, so I usually go there. But, for the opportunity to fish with you, I would be happy to meet at Elizabeth. There is a chance I can leave earlier than 3. I'm on call tonight, and anything I do tonight will equal the time I leave early tomorrow (just don't tell anyone). So, how can I get ahold of you to say what time I will be over there? If I post it here, will that be good enough?

hey man, i dont care where we launch. i will meet you at erie metro. we can launch from sandusky if thats what you want to do. you see, i am in the unique position of not having a boat. if you tell me to stand on one foot and sing the national anthem while reeling in a 1 lb cheetam, i would be happy to do so. and im sure i will be now. anyway, if you need to get ahold of me you can call me at work 1-976-BASS LUV or on my cel 248-379-4724. or you can just post it here. doest matter. i get off work at 3:30 pm but i can get off earlier if you do. Tell you what. I'll post here when I'm leaving, then I'll call you when I get closer and have an idea what time I'll be there.

Are you looking to put in near Elizabeth park? You can launch out of Erie Metro and head south (maybe a mile?) to the bannana d**e and catch some largemouth. They're pretty underfished there. Sorry to interupt your plans but I had to step in: everytime i go by there its stacked with bass boats. FYI: as of September 1st the inside of the banana d**e is off limits for the duck hunters. There are a ton of largies there but this time of year you have to "duck" shotgun pellets all day. I was out there Sunday in the fog and wandered out a mile or so off of shore of the banana d**e and picked up a couple of nice smallies. Very scattered but one went over 5lbs. so it was worth it.

Wasn't making plans, only giving suggestions. Thanks for the heads up though! I've personally never encountered another bass boat (or boat for that matter -- well, except for a sunken one) on the stretch of shoreline I fish. But I fish the outside of the bannana, not the inside. Plus, it's been a good year since I've fished it, so maybe things have changed. Anyhow, what were you using to catch the smallies? Hey Eric thanks for the invite, but the wife is out of town this weekend and I have the baby all to myself. I'd bring her along, but she's eating solid food now and is teething...it's an ugly site...lol...plus, I wouldn't want her to outfish you and PoorBoy...

The smallies were caught on a yellow 4" tube with 1/4oz rattling jig. I made the mistake of throwing all my tubes in boxes, so i can't tell you a manufacturer. But i'm convinced there all the same. Color and size makes the difference. But that's probably why i can't catch a cold most the time.

Hey Poor Boy, I just had a new lower unit put on a 225 Johnson Venom and it had braided line around the prop which deteriated the seal causing it to fail and fry the lower unit. My insurance company covered it without question. Had it back now about six hours of running time and burnt a piston and now have to have the piston rings and boring $1800 to 2400 is the estimate to fix it. I feel your pain. Not to mention I had the lower unit rebuilt in December.
