Do many of you guys ice fish. I know its a far cry from topwater bassin. I do quite a bit id say 3-4 times a week early and late winter, catchings a different story. I usually freeze my fingers catching 8" walleye one after the other then get a nice one all the way up to the hole only to have it cut the line while i flop my arm down the hole (like a moron) only to push it back to safety. I must say i do eat most walleyes i catch (good thing i have money for food ). I must not be cut out for it or something. The other day I call my buddy and he says lets go ice fishing. I say ok and get the trailer put my dads ATV on it and head to his house. We try to get his 2wheel drive machine up the slickest steepest ramps i have ever seen. After several near death attempts we decide that even though we'll look like geeks we will both ride mine. We get all our gear (almost) and head to burt lake to try for some perch. We get all unloaded and head out. Im pretty anxious to get out on the hard water (why I dont know) On the way out I think for some reason that my coat isn't as warm as i remember. Once we arrive at our destination i realize my coat is unzipped ( guess that explains the draftiness). Well i brush the snow off that has me looking like the abomibadmle snow man and unhook the auger. I pull the choke out and give it a swift pull....nothin. I give it another pull....nothin. I give it a third pull and .... pull the rewind cord off the no good **** piece of monkey **** thing. Needless to say im a little ticked off by now. With 18" of ice I decide spudding holes is out of the question. Back on the fourwheeler to shore we go. Load up and head for home. Like i said i must not be cut out for it.
