Thanks Dan for allowing me to share this with the forum members.
Dear Anglers,
I would like to give you an opportunity to help Katrina Victims during the DK Open tournament. Many people in Gulf Coast region are in need of health and hygiene items. In a partnership with the Red Cross, we are seeking your help in providing Health Kits. A health kit costs only about $10 per kit and can be put together very quickly and easily. If the anglers who are participating in this tourney will provide one kit each (or more), I will ensure that they are shipped the Monday following the tournament to where they are needed most. I can collect the kits the morning of the tournament. A health kit consists of the following items.
Health Kit
1 hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27")
1 washcloth
1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, No child-size brushes)
1 large tube of toothpaste (4.5 oz. or larger, expiration date must be 6 months or longer in advance of the date of shipment)
6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
*In a separate envelope, please INCLUDE $1.25 for each kit to help with the costs of processing and shippi ng the kits.
As you can see, it's an easy and inexpensive way to help, but will have a huge impact on those who are suffering the devastation of this terrible tragedy. All over the country, professional anglers are pitching in and making a difference. My hope is that we as a small group of anglers can also chip in and make a difference. I will collect the Health Kits at the pre-tournament meeting. Look for the guy with the blue Chevy Truck with a camper on top. Thanks in advance for your help. See you at the tournament.
