I am new to the area and I will be going to Saginaw Bay Fiday and/or Satuday. I will be putting at Au Gres boat launch. Any info on the area, what to look for and what to expect would be of great help.
I enjoy the board and look for new post almost every day. There is alot of great info posted and have already learned a lot of new fishing tips.
Thanks again.

Anytime you're shallower than 10 feet be real careful. Lots of motor-eating rocks all over. Don't run real fast through an area you don't know well. You can instantly run out of water even quite a ways from shore. Quite a ways!
Both bays just outside of the Au Gres river (left or right) hold bass, mostly smallmouths. Look for rock piles and weed patches. If you have decent visibility, just go to dark patches. If not, be careful.
Some of the longer rock bars may hold a lot of bass right now, but I haven't been there this year, yet.
Just throw all white or all chartreuse spinnerbaits over dark patches and rock bar edges. Maybe jerkbaits too. If you don't get bit, try the typical tube/grubs. If you still don't get bit, move to the next spot. Stay inside 10 feet or less most of the time with 4 to 7 being the most common target zone.
Normally, if there are numbers around, you'll see and/or catch them. The bass aren't especially spooky up there unless a whole lot of guys are fishing for them, which really isn't that often.
There are spots all the way North to Tawas. Spots out at the Charities, and spots south to Linwood, but lots of 'empty' water in between, so you might want to get a feel for the fish closer to the Au Gres before you start running around and finding out how big the bay is. It can be overwhelming if you fish a mile of rocks and don't catch anything. Just remember edges and clumps. They aren't everywhere.
