I just moved to the area and any imforamtion would be appriciated. Basic patterns, good lakes ect. I fished the East Bay this morning but the wind made it hard to fish so, I drove around with my map looking at differnt areas.

You have entered big bass heaven up there. Elk/Torch Chain is great. The Bay is great (but can be rough as you've found out). Duck and Green Lakes are great. Crystal Lake is great. There are lots of smaller bass lakes, many with largemouth too within a reasonable drive of you. You should have fun exploring. It's not that far to Charlevoix and Intermediate Chain. Wow! I'm jealous.
The Cherry Capital Bass Anglers have some events up there in the area on the Leelanau's and other lakes and usually report good weights.

Howdy, The Traverse area is a great bass spot. You may want to check out our teardropbass.com website. A number of our anglers are from the Traverse area. I fished Duck on Sunday. It's a great lake to dabble about on. Hard to go there and not catch fish. September will bring some fantastic fishing right on through October. All kinds of fishing opportunities.

Thanks for the information Dan. I live about five minutes form Green & Duck lake. I'm going to try to make it out on Duck lake this weekend. I don't usually have a problem catching fish, these lakes are just a lot bigger than I'm used to. I'm probley going to fish this year and next year to learn the lakes then find a club to join.

You will learn quite a bit about the lakes just fishing some of our tournaments. No need to wait for a couple of years. You will also meet a number of very good fisherman that are in our group that live in the Interlochen/Traverse City area. We have our $5,000 two day fish off on Duck and Green Sept. 25 and 26. Our top ten boats will be there. We fish Green on Sat. and Duck on Sunday. Usually takes a two day total over 30 pounds to take first place. (7 fish limit).
Take care, Dan Shine teardropbass.com

First time up fishing Grand Traverse Bay last weekend. From what I could see it was a awesome fishery and very few people (I didn't see one) fishing for bass. They are still spawing right now. Look for sand/gravel/rock mix. I personally looked for small rock or sand ridges and fished the wind protected side. I was a ways North of Traverse and they were spaced out pretty good. You had to hunt for them. This one came of a large boulder in 10 FOW.

Nice fish Alex I live about 1/2 hour from the bay's. The bad part about it is that you have proublubly fished it more than I have. Work has been very busy the last month.
I'm going to try to fish it this Saturday I fished it about three weeks ago and found fish chasing minnows. I would wait to see them bust the surface then throw a white tube in the middle of the school and get a fish. I need to get a digital camera and put up some pictures.
I just need to get some time to fish lately the way its going. I get the fish figured out then I have to leave and get home.

Try the west side of Elk Lake wherever you can find some wood on bottom in the shallows. They seem to like coming up in there to feed towards dusk. Too bad most tournaments are in the morning! The drops out off those same areas are good in the morning with tubes, and watch for topwater fish if there is a hatch on.
Later.
