Guys, the post spawn funk is way over, and the fish have the feedbag on like crazy.
could have been weather related - front after front came thru all afternoon - was out from 1 till about 5 playing hopscotch with the rain bursts.
the wind was howling from the sw - I do mean it, hearing your line sing in the wind at 25+ mph. Waves on the mile roads was 2-3 ft 100 yds from shore -
was finding good largies 5-8 FOW in the thick stuff north of 14 mile, and the smallies anywhere 5-8 fow with sparse weeds and rocks. Tubes were the ticket today - landed 25+ fish, although most were 12-13 inchers - still fun. Best 5 keepers were probably 13 lbs or so. color was of no importance - they ate up just about anything - even caught a few on traps - chrome/blue.
good luck this weekend guys - and maybe I 'll see ya out there - green/white ranger 520, 225 HO.
Jack

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a lot of guys are expecting to get their limits this weekend over there with some saying they expect BIG limits. The weigh ins will tell the truth as always.
I'm just having a find some fish weekend for the BFL the following weekend. It'll be my first time over there this year - by far the latest I've gotten out on the big lake in years. I can't wait...

You'll have me beat. My first time there will be the 26th, for the OBM open. I may not even get a chance to get out, period, until then. I was hoping to get to Lake Ovid or even the Grand River one evening , this week. Looks like that won't happen.
By the way, congrats on your finish at Houghton Lake.
