I would try the flat on the south shore between the pillings and the first sand point. There should be a bunch of guys there from the BFL i would think, pulled 12lbs from there last week. Its a big aera fish the 6 to 9 foot weed patchs.

I was there for the BFL Saturday. I went out Friday and shook off about 10 keepers. I know because they were so aggressive, I could pull most right to surface before they let go. I did land 2 - 2 3/4 pound largemouth that hit so hard they hooked themselves. I broke off 1 other fish that wrapped me around pilings.
Saturday, I couldn't do anything right at the right time. I caught 1 dink, and missed about 6 bites - at least 4, maybe 5 of which were probably dogfish the way they hit.
My co-angler got 1 nice one in inches of water in slop after another boat had already worked through. I had to return to Muskegon to get 1 small keeper that I ended up not even weighing since I'm not fishing anymore BFL this year. I did see 5 other keepers late in the tournament on Muskegon, but could not get them to bite. I caught a HUGE dogfish in the same place though.
I still have no real good idea why I did so poorly. Several top places including the co-angler winner and boater big bass came from White. I fished hard and tried different areas. I think I may have just been due for a bad tournament - as good an explanation as any I guess.

Dont worry Dan it takes a truly awesome angler to catch dogfish with bass lures, in a tournament. At least thats what i tell people.
