Got up early Thursday and headed up to Houghton Lake for my first ever trip to that big old lake, and man is it large. I put the boat in the water and ran right up to the middle grounds this was the best move I made all weekend, on my first cast I put my fist keep in the boat not bad because the next 7 fish were shorts. Thinking I have found something good I started looking for other areas like it, a weed line here a hump there but nothing. Fridayheadedback to the middle grounds I ran over a small hump and turned around to fish it. Just so happed that this hump was loaded up with walleye and hooked and boated 5 nice keeps up to 3 pounds. So on to the middle grounds again the fish were still in the area and did get 5 keeps. now I'm thinking this is a god place to start Saturday for our club tournament. My parter was heading up that night so i called it a day. Saturday went to plan and we ran to the middle grounds and ended up with a limit for the both of us. My rider took first place and I took 2nd. It was a great away tournament for our club and I'm quite sure I'll be back to Houghton Lake.

I see you've been getting limits this year a lot.
Were they smallies or largemouths? And what mark said...

The fish were all largemouths for 7.76lbs and first was a little over 8, and yes its been a good year so far. We have number 3 of the BBT this Saterday on White Lake, I'm hopping my luck holds. No smallies boated by anyone that i know of.

Good job on the fish. What was your best lure out there. I am just curious because you didn't mention getting any of those pesky northerns.
