Friday 9-1
Got a late start and didn't launch at Half Moon until 10:30 A.M. I headed to Patterson first. The wind was already causing white caps. I cranked the point on the right as you come out of the channel all the way around with a Lucky Craft CB Moonsault 200 in Pearl Ayu, a Rapala DT-6 and 4 in blue gill and found no takers. I repeated this pattern on the point by the fresh air camp with the same results. I moved to the break by the island next and caught 2 barely legal LM on the LC. It's now noon and I move over to Woodburn. I crank the edges of the point by the little feeder creek and collect 1 15 inch LM. I work it with black/blue jig and get bit twice but don't hook up. I start cranking the bay to the right and catch a 18 inch LM on the LC. I switched to a Wild Shiner in chrome/blue back and it promptly gets hammered on the third pause and it starts stripping line. I knew it wasn't a bass but I was surprised to find about a 40 inch gar pike with all 9 hooks in it's mouth. It took me 15 minutes and two pairs of pliers but I got my Wild Shiner back, minus 4 broke off hooks, and the fish swam away unharmed.
It's now 1:30 so I head to Bruin. I started cranking the drop off just past the camp ground with the LC and work my way around to the Boy Scout Camp dock without a hit. Just past it I catch a dink smallie, followed by 2 dink LM. I get to the point that curls around some deep water and catch 4 LM on 4 casts, all dinks. The next cast produces a 17 1/2 inch smallie. About 15 casts later I catch a 16 inch LM. I threw the DT-6 the whole time in Bruin as well but only caught fish on the LC.
It's now 3:30 and I headed out to hit two spots in Half Moon before I have to leave. The first spot is protected from the wind and has some pads and a sharp drop so I started throwing a black/blue flake 5 inch senko. I got to the point, which has a willow tree falling down on it, and skip the senko under the branches and immediatly it gets hammered. I set the hook and bring in a 18 inch smallie.
It's now 4: 00 so I figured it was a good time to call it a day.
