Well, we didn't get skunked. So I guess for the first time ever on Lakeville, we did ok. We got 2 keepers and a couple of rock bass. Fished from 8am - 1pm. Saw a few fish roaming, but couldn't get them to react. Saw 2 bed fish only the whole day. Lots of empty beds - water temp 64.9 in most of the lake with 66 in the Southeast corner. Not the best day.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm fishing a tourney there Tuesday evening and could use some pointers. I figure, I can target some of the roamers up shallow, but I'm not sure where I can find a concentration of fish. Saw some marks in about 25 ft of water where there appeared to be fish suspended about 10 ft. down. I threw a DT-10 at them, but couldn't score a strike. My partner slow rolled a spinnerbait and dropped Senkos down there, but he couldn't score a bite either. Didn't try a spoonbill jerkbait, but at that point I wasn't optimistic. Anyone have any experience on Lakeville? Are there any bigger fish in that lake? My keeper today only went 15 inches and my partner's was barely legal. Thanks!

i fished the gnt tournaments out there last year on wed nights, and it only took 10lbs a night to win, there wasn't a 4 lber weighed in all year there i'm pretty sure, a few 3 lbers, my big fish out of there last year was 3.5 lbs in october. there really isn't a spot in shallow water (8 feet or less) that i haven't caught fish in that lake. either stick tight to the drop offs, or work the shallow flats, the fish will be in either place usually. all the usual baits work there too. just keep moving around, cover water, and when you catch a keeper, fish a circle around that spot, and you should keep catching them. i have heard of huge bass coming out of that lake, but mainly caught on live bait. one older guy i talked to out there bragged that he caught a 24 inch largemouth on a crayfish and ate it. one less 6lber in that lake. anyways, it isn't too tough to fish, but you won't probably catch too many fish over 15-16 inches, that is about all you get out there. good luck, and leave some fish for me on wednesday nights this year, derrek
