Hi guys, I'm fishing the Stringy Chain tommorrow. I've never been there before. Any tips on which lake is the best to start with?

I've never even heard of this chain. Looks like not too many guys fish there.
Where is it and how did you do?

Man was it tough. There were 3 limits, two zero's, one 1-bag, and one 4-bag. I was one of the unfortunate ones who couldn't figure them out. The Stringy Chain is also called Squaw lake. It is in Oxford off of Drahner Road. It's a very small lake that doesn't get much pressure and doesn't have many if any tournaments on it. Therefore the fish are pretty large, but very spooky do the gin clear water.
There is a mix of Largemouth and Smallmouth.
You can get to the other lakes in the chain from Squaw only if you have a small aluminum boat that only drafts 8 or 10 inches. You have to go under a road through a pipe to get to the other lakes. A bass boat can't make it. I would recommend this lake for some decent size fish, but only for a very small tournament. More than 6 or 8 boats makes you feel like you're always fishing behind someone.
Not sure I'd be for having another tourney there, but I'll definetely be going back for some fun fishing to try to get into some better fish. We had a number of 3 pounders brought to the scale and one that went nearly 5. There were a number of big fish lost that day as well.
I never got to pre-fish it. In hindsight, I should have slowed way down in my presentation, but not being able to go to the other lakes caught me by surprise and made me antsy the rest of the day and I think I just fished too impatiently and fast. Oh well. Live and learn!
