Anybody familiar with the Classic Series. Here's the deal. One of our boats missed the Classic by .5 points. However, after the fact they get a phone call - anonymous that said that there aren't ties because big bass would break it. With that the case the team they split the point with was the team just ahead of them in the standings. They got the last Classic spot. But.... if instead of tying and splitting the point they go to big bass our friends boat wins because they have the bigger bass. They get the whole point which would put them ahead of the boat they finished behind and give them the last berth in the Classic. Gets complicated and looking at the rules it appears that ties only occur when both parties have same weight and same big bass. Have made the necessary phone calls. Have one more to make as soom as we get the tournament directors phone number. Should be interesting to see how it all turns out. One of those what if scenarios that happens when you set something up. You would think that it wouldn't get so complicated but it sometimes does. Will keep you posted as soon as we get the issue interpreted.

Has anyone seen a published schedule or heard rumors of lakes for the 2006 Classic Series? With the BFL moving to new lakes and the Bassmaster series coming into the Great Lakes, there will be lots of good competitive tournaments to enter. Has anybody thought of which takes priority to them?? I wonder how many clubs will suffer?

I too wonder what next year brings especially with gas at $70 + per barrel? Trolling motors certainly, oar locks becomming standard items on the new rigs. I know our tournament group Tear Drop Bass, teardropbass.com, has voted on lakes - Hamlin Lake, Manistee Lake, Portage Lake (Onekama), Crystal Lake, (Beulah), Elk/Torch, Green Lake (Interlochen) and our Classic (at this point these are the proposed lakes) will be on Grand Traverse Bay. The Tear Drop has a 100% pay back, two day $5,000 Classic. averaging about 25 boats. The Classic Series and the new Bassmaster's Series is sure going to be interesting though.

The federation normally schedules around all BASS events in the past, but I don't know if that BASS request stands with the Bassmaster Series. I do know the Michigan tournament director of the Series is working with the Federation avoid conflict anyway out of good sense. The BFL and the federation are working with each other much better now too thanks to Ron Lappin at FLW Outdoors and federation president Dennis Beltz.
I fished Tear Drop a few times years ago with a previous partner. We had fun.
