7/10- Thunder Bay Lake Huron
I had a club tournament on this wonderful body of water a couple weeks ago. Having never been out on the big water or in a bass boat before i was in for an awakening. After some asking and talking i got lucky and found a partner who had a boat. In fact a brand new ranger equipped with a 225 optimax. AWESOME BOAT. I had no chance to prefish and was pretty much hoping for a miracle. My partner had been out the day before and said he had found a few fish. This was good news. The morning of the tournament the water was flat and winds were calm even out here. We were soon on our way to our first hole at 69-70 mph. WOW THATS FAST ;D ( a picture of me at the moment) We fished this shallow hole for about an hour with no fish but seen a few big sheephead. Headed out to some deep rock humps where i immediatly hooked moby d i c k. Luckily he got off quick after stripping drag for a solid 10 seconds. Must have been a big sheephead of something. No other bites. Headed to a shipping channel and fished here for about 2hrs where i preceeded to lose another fish. Not sure what it was. Headed to another shallow flat where my partner got our first and only keeper. Well to make a long story short fished the rest of the day with no fish. After the roughest boat ride ive ever been on back to the weighin (wind must have picked up in there sometime) we had a shorttime to fish around the harbor where i landed my only fish all day a 10 inch smallmouth dink. Ended up 9 out of 11 with one 2.5 lber. Even though i didnt catch fish it was still an awesome time.
