Boy is this going to be challenging... maybe I should throw in week days? Naw, that won't work. I'll have to do one of the brainteaser grids I guess to see if a particular date ends up the winner.
As far as tips, I'd start by reading the 2004 Lake Ovid tips. If you have a memory good enough to remember tips you hear now by September/October, then I guess it's not too early to start.
Just remember Lake Ovid is a lowland reservoir...

Ya know Dan, as long as school's not in session, fishing on a week day is not a bad idea. At least for me. In October, I could bring my bow, and if I see a deer, put down the bow, turn off the motor, and let er fly. Long as it's not in the water....
But I've never fished for deer before. Would they require and extra extra wide gap hook?

As far as deer fishing, I don't think the hook type matters as long as it is tied with bucktail...

DAN
Are you thinking on a draw or buddy format.

I want to do it in a way that everyone who wants to fish, gets to fish. I'd like to make sure everyone gets a chance to know everyone else too.
Are most guys thinking they'll bring a partner to do a team tournament?
How many guys want a draw and/or might not be able to get a boater partner for this event?

For me, the whole point of fishing this particular event would be to get to know some of the nuts that hang out in these forums. ;D I can fish with my regular fishing buddies anytime and will fish with them all summer. So personally, I wouldn't mind a draw where you and your partner fish as a team. A good question to post (so I will) would be: How many of you who are interested are nonboaters or would be willing to fish as a nonboater for this event? I'm a boater, but would be willing to go as a nonboater if necessary. Not sure I want to fish with poorboy though...I hear his boat breaks down every time he hits the water. (kidding of course!)

I've never fished a tornament in my life. I don't know anything about formats. So what ever you guys want is fine with me. My purpose of fishing this one is more to meet you guys than anything else. I have a boat, but don't mind fishing in the back of a more experienced anglers boat. In fact I'd prefer it. If I were to fish tournaments in the future, it would be more for the learning aspect and the fun of fishing than any kind of competetive reasons.

Dan
I have partners I can fish with if everybody wants to do a buddy format. If you want pair people from the site together that is fine with me. I would like to use my boat if possible. I have no problem letting someone else run the trolling motor part of the day.

Sounds interesting. I will bring my boat and a non boater. Any format works for me.

Dan
You can buy one of those 22ft Rangers and we could all fish from the same boat.

I checked the fishing budget and I'm just not finding a new bass boat anywhere in there...
Hey MadWags I hope you can make it. We need an adult to supervise... BTW, you can talk about those cool FishHedz masks all you want here under fishing products.
I'd like to hear from some more guys before I suggest a final date and format.

FYI to all, 10-2-05 is Avid Anglers open on the Half Moon chain. I fish that with my wife so that date doesn't work for me. I could fish either of the other dates and would like to. AS far as draw or buddy format, I've never fished a draw tournament but would like to. I would prefer to use my boat, but would be willing to fish as a non-boater to make the numbers work. I've only fished Lake Ovid twice and had a great day and a poor day. Cameraguy, I like your idea of Lake Lancer, but I don,t think they allow tournaments. Last year, my partner and I had an informal tournament there with another team from our club and we both brought in 5-fish limits that weighed just over 15 lbs. each. We only fished for 4 hours. The place is a hog factory. Hooksetter .........45 days and counting........ ;D
