Hey Dan...I know this was mentioned once or twice last year on your board, but, is there going to be a 1st annual Dan Kimmel Bulletin Board Bass Open this year?

Well... I could say I'm still working on the boat for first prize... but not really... unfortunately.
Do enough guys really want to do it? If so, we could see about finding some open day in between all the ABA/NBAA/CATT/BFL/EverStart/Top Bass/federation/GNT (who have a I forgot?)
Right now, I'm maybe only fishing the first BFL and maybe a couple opens in October. Maybe the State Championship in September too.
Thanks for bringing it back up. What do you guys (gals?) think?

Hey Dan
I would fish it if it was on a lake like Sanford,Wixom,Lake Ovid,Fletchers Flood Waters,Long Lake in Alpena. I just don't want to do Lake St.Clair like everybody else. There are a lot of lakes to fish that have excellent fishing. Put up a date and see how many people will commit to fishing it.

Let me look at the schedules this weekend and see if I can come up with a date.
CWINSIII from the great north - I'd rather have it on an inland lake too if possible as much as I like St. Clair. Don't know what the majority thinks about that?

I'd be open for anything...this coming season I will be on St. Clair more than any other lake, so an inland lake would be a welcomed change I'm sure...

Sounds like a good time. Here's my suggestion, make it late in the year, It seems like everything is over in October, for someone who doesn't hunt, it makes for a long winter. The only problem with that time of year is the wind blows pretty good, so an inland lake sounds good!

How about muskegon lake? I dont think anyone would be a favorite there. I have never been there. Is there really a lake there. I think it would be cool to go there. Maybe we could have a tourney there, than I could finally go there.
Actually its one of my favorites so I would be inclined to make it if eveyone would be willing. Another thing that would work is a Kent or Hardy or even that lake in muskegon( I forget the name) preseason when there is nothing else going on.
Either way count me in if there is nothing else goin.

Count me in if you do one. An inland lake would be great. Preferably somewhere you didn't have to drive too far and stay overnight. How about Ovid...then you can prove to us that there are really hogs in that lake. ;D

hi Dan
I would like it on lake ovid. I have as much time on it as anybody. The lake has been getting pounded pretty good the last 4 years with tournaments. The weights haven't been as big the last two years as in the past. I've seen the weights in 2002 it took 15 to 20 lbs to win. In 03 and 04 the weights were down to 10 to 15 lbs. I can make a couple of calls this weekend to see what the largest weight was last year.
The DNR only lets you have 26 boats. You might want to do a pre signup to see how many people would show up.
Its a long drive for me but I love fishing that lake.
Thanks
Dan

first off, it wouldn't be a first annual, but only a first. It then becomes a second annual - details, I know - lol . I think an inland tourney would be great - depends on how many boats really - i would travel just about anyplace - houghton would be great as well. Fished the grand river ( clear lake) and muskegan river - not the finest bags brought to the scales over there last year. Anyhow, throw out a date or two, and lets see what happens.

I'm in, lake ovid is a good centralized location. A late date would avoid all of the schedule conflicts.

Couldn't it be the 1st Annual if we decided ahead of time to have one every year?
I'll be looking at the calendar probably Sunday. Babysitting some of the Godchildren tomorrow and then my wife, who works at MSU, may force me to go to an MSU basketball game later. I said I'd go to the old green and white only if we are sitting real close to the cheerleaders. I like a good cheer. ;D
I appreciate all the suggestions.
Who's fishing what circuits this year?

i have heard of this lake ovid. i dont care where you turkeys have it, ill be there as long as it does not conflict with any ABA tourneys. i will be fishing ABA district 7 and the new 'big water' district. i will also be fishing the CATT thursday nights out of COMPASS POINTE MARINA. and possibly a few opens as well. If any of you are considering joining the ABA this season, keep in mind that we are having 2 pre season tournaments this year. one on kent lake and one on cass lake. both in may. this will give you a chance to feed the need to tournament fish a month before anyone else is doing it. low membership fees ( $25.00 ) which keep you in for a full year, not just the short season. plus you get ABA magazine which is actually a good mag. and you get to hang out with me, the master of disaster himself! dont be a sissy, fish the ABA and be cool like me and cheetam. I'll fish as long as you promise not to make me fish with 2 other people like I was forced to do in the snow last fall at the HAWG HUNT!
